Seniors helping Seniors

Who would like to act as a consultant to an ID student in Thesis? In December they have a presentation in the Art and Design Gallery (they stand and present and have 10 feet or so of wall space to put graphics, posters, sketches, final produce)

examples:

The ID senior would just need to meet with you 2+ times about how they are thinking about the presentation and then again once they have a draft of it so you can give them some tips on type, image, alignments.... You would need to find a time to meet: the good or bad news is they meet at 11:30 TR so maybe when you are not meeting as a large group with Jeremy you could visit with an ID student.

MAGAZINE // DEPARTURE MAGAZINE
Departure Magazine is an 80+ page travel magazine that focuses on problems encountered during travel, breaking stereotypes, and experiencing differences in cultures. This issue, Americans Traveling in Europe, features everything from survival tips during the World Cup to understanding why Europeans love Techno music. Inspired by personal experiences in Europe, all content including photos and stories were provided by a team of three designers.

Roam Magazine
Roam magazine was created in order to provide readers with unique ways in which to discover international culture within the United States. Departments included, music, food, entertainment and travel.

You Magazine
‘You’ is a magazine about self-expression. Everyone has their own way to express themselves, whether it be through music, sports, the food they eat, the way they dress, the objects they keep, or even down to the way they decorate their living room. This magazine gives people new ways to express themselves, share them with the world, and even a chance to understand them psychologically. This was a collaborative project with three other classmates. We were assigned to create a magazine, including eight spreads and two advertisements from each team member.

Pre Magazine
Pre Magazine was created directly for students graduating in the art & design field, that focuses on getting graduates the information they need to help establish a career after school. A collaborative effort, my contribution being one 2-page department spread, one 8-page special feature article, and two 1-page advertisements.

PRE MAGAZINE
YOUR SPRINGBOARD FOR THE VISUAL ARTS.
A collaborative project of four designers, we were challenged to think of a magazine idea to fill current market niche as yet untapped. Our idea was to
create magazine that will directly help young creatives to enter the art and
design field / industry. As collaborative effort, my contribution was magazine
cover, content spread, one department spread, two four page feature article,
and two advertisements.

Cypher
Cypher: a sophisticated hip hop fashion / lifestyle magazine that aims to suppress stereotypes that hip hop is little more than the glorification of wealth and fame. A collaborative student magazine spanning over 80 pages, my contribution as Art Director included masthead design, cover design, one 2-page department spread, one 8-page feature article and one 6-page fashion shoot.

From donation-based thrift stores, to shops that buy, sell and trade with the young and hip generation, to one-of-a-kind vintage boutiques with personal service, typography appears at every turn and gives each shop its own personality.

SRBIJA DO TOKIJA
Throughout history there have always been moments when a shift in style occurs in the world of art. The reasons for such changes range from revolutionary new ways of introducing application of art to how the style is applied. These shifts usually occurred after really hard times such as wars, economic crises etc. After really hard times in late 90's, there was a major shift in the SERBIAN graffiti art, and therein one will find he major art revolution that took place.

Spencer Museum
Worked as team leader of a group of eight to develop an environmental graphic design plan for the Spencer Museum of Art. This was done by improving branding and outreach methods as well as the interior of the museum. By using the concept of an “open window”, the team created a campaign that allowed the artwork to speak for itself.

Douglas County Historical Society
Branding Re Design for the Douglas County Historical Society located in Lawrence, Kansas. In collaboration with a fellow classmate Carly Hoover, she designing the branding system for The Watkins Museum. My branding included: Two different styled logos, letterhead, business card, Membership form, envelope, ticket, two different postcards, a poster, shopping bag, and a t-shirt. Together we came up with a solid look and feel that represented the museum as a whole.

In the end our designs were chosen to be used for the new branding identity for the Historical Society and the Watkins Museum.

The juries of AIGA, a professional association for design, have been celebrating inventive ideas for some nine decades—most recently in this year's "365 | Design Effectiveness" contest, whose 134 winners went on display this week at the group's National Design Center in New York.

The top designs, all from 2010, include a website that incorporates bicycle bells into virtual Christmas choirs, a campaign for breaking into the makeup market for South Korean schoolgirls, and tequila labels created to evoke everyday life in Mexico.
